BY DAY OR NIGHT

A stuffed belly does not like to go on travels. What could be more luring than a cozy bed after some fine dining with wining? That is why Else and Peter took the next step and built their wine lodge in 2010. They especially value the use of natural and organic materials, as well as a clear but nonetheless lovely design. Not only guests have been appreciating this, but also Weinviertel’s official travel portal has taken the wine lodge into its list of high quality guest rooms, the so called “Geniesserzimmer”.

The lodge is the perfect place for a good night’s sleep by night or conferences for up to 20 people by day.

WHERE TABLES HAVE A LOT TO CARRY

Peter Schöfman is not simply a winemaker, but also a former top chef - and he knows his way around the kitchen. The wine lodge has a long and successful history as a “Heurigen”, a traditionally Austrian tavern serving food and drinks sourced directly from the same farm.

Since 2014 the tavern only opens for special culinary events so the couple can focus on winemaking. However during the summer months guests at the lodge can enjoy occasional grill’n’chill parties whenever the winemakers’ workload allows for it. Year round guests can in indulge in local delicacies at OUR DELI, THE ”GREISSLEREI”.

Of course the tavern can be booked for private functions and parties.

And the food?

“Well, that should follow you home as well” is what crossed Else’s and Peter’s mind and they simply opened a shop to go with their vineyard. This is where Mr. and Mrs. Gourmet can explore selected local delicacies:

Traditional potato types, home-grown oils from Weinviertel, grains and cereals from the Hobersdorfer Zuckermühle, onions originating from Laa an der Thaya, some raspberry creations of family Hummel, Pepi’s organic pickles, delicious boar products and the famous BOA Galloway-Beef from Wildendürnbach. Else and Peter themselves contribute to this list of fine foods with home-made seasonal jams and chutneys, as well as the feisty Weinviertel mustard.
